SipGate is a VOIP-based phone service that offers a complete web-based solution for all forms of business communication – fax, SMS, telephony and voicemail. With no lengthy contracts and a reliable service, SipGate has been making some headway in the market recently. Although the service does offer a few good features, we were generally a little underwhelmed by what SipGate had to offer its users, feeling that other services in the category offered more features and better value for money. SipGate offers users a number of features that make this service appropriate for business use. Firstly, auto-attendant functionality means all of your calls are answered speedily, professionally and uniformly, giving your business a more professional approach regardless of its size. Conference calling, Call Forwarding and Call Waiting and great voicemail features are also on offer, meaning using SipGate for your business should add value and improve efficiency. While all of these features are useful, we were a little disappointed that there wasn’t a bit more on offer here – other services we have reviewed have a much wider range of features, such as message recording, voicemail transcription and more, so it was a shame we didn’t see more of these features here.

In terms of cost, SipGate comes out towards the top end of services we have reviewed in this category. Services start at $14.95 per month and rise up to around $150 per month, depending on how many users are connected to the service. Tailored plans are available, many with inclusive minutes, but the cost of these is also high when compared to other similar services. Although some businesses may still see cost saving benefits in using SipGate, the cost of this service is certainly not its greatest attribute, so users looking to save serious money on their business phone services should look elsewhere.

Considering the cost of this service, which is dependent on the number of users connected to the service, we were a little disappointed by the features and tools on offer and couldn’t help but feel that this service lags far behind other more prominent ones in this category (such as RingCentral, for example). That said, there is a 30-day free trial available on all services offered by SipGate and as such, if you do like the sound of what’s on offer here, it won’t cost you anything to give it a go.
