Editor's Review:

Phone.com is a VOIP-based phone service that offers packages tailored to the needs of both business and residential customers. With more than 60 advanced features and tools that help improve your communication (whilst also helping users save, on average, up to 65% on their regular phone bills), it’s not difficult to see why Phone.com has become a bit of a staple provider in this market. What’s more, Phone.com has also achieved exalted status in the business media (being featured on Fox Business, New Jersey Tech News, Inc. and PC World) and having picked up numerous industry awards for the quality of its product.

Setting up your service from Phone.com is simple and straightforward and takes only a matter of minutes. All of the necessary kit is sent through the post and installation requires no technical skills or IT wizardry at all – simply follow the instructions and you’ll be up and running in no time. Customers can opt to transfer their existing number to Phone.com (through a process called ‘porting’ which takes a few days) or choose a new number from those on offer. Throughout the process customers have access to excellent customer service and technical support teams that can be contacted twenty four hours a day throughout the year.

In terms of features, Phone.com doesn’t disappoint. A wide range of business features and tools are available, including call recording, after-hours greeting, conferencing, hold music, dial-by-name directories, call blocking and more. Operators can also handle more calls at once, and improve the flow of calls between different sectors and departments, using Call Waiting, Call Forwarding and Caller ID features. All of these features, along with a great many others, make up the 60 features that Phone.com offers to all users as standard – helping the service to become one of the biggest names in VOIP-based phone services.

Unlike some of the services we have reviewed in this category, Phone.com offers a range of services that are appropriate both for business use and use in a residential setting. This makes this service particularly handy for those that operate a small business from home, as integrating the two services (while still retaining separate phone numbers for domestic and business purposes) is simple and straightforward. Home Phone and Virtual Office plans start at just $9.88 per month, though the price you should expect to pay is greater if you add on additional features or take advantage of Phone.com’s complementary services.

It is clear from user testimonials (and our extensive research) that Phone.com offers a service that almost all of its users love – indeed, this is reinforced by the number of users who regularly recommend the service to their friends and family. The business ‘case studies’ offered by the service make it easy to see how Phone.com could help you save money and how easy it would be to integrate Phone.com into your existing operation, regardless of how large or complex your office structure is. In this sense, we urge you to give Phone.com a go – you never know quite how much you stand to save!
